The Tamron on the other hand is a treat to use with much better build quality and feel. Even though it is mostly plastic is feels solid and has some weight. Most importantly it produces superior pictures. The mild inconvenience is that the Zoom location is different from my L lenses and rotates in the opposite direction. This lens lives up to all the good reviews currently available. The USD motor is fast and quiet. The VC gives 3-4 more stops. Tamron has spent some time on this design and it shows. As a bonus the lens hood is well build and fits the lens perfectly when placed backwards.
